Carl Avery and Heather Wheeler cut the tape at the official opening.

The Village Hall, dressed as an indoor garden on July 13th in readiness for Open Gardens the following day,  was a fabulous backdrop for the official opening by Heather Wheeler.

Cheese and iced drinks made this a most enjoyable occasion.

Work has now started in the new kitchen extension and will take about 4 months to complete.  Willington Building Services, based in a village a short distance from Milton, are undertaking the construction.

The project is being partly funded by a  Community Building Grant from from Derbyshire County Council, but the village still has to raise the additional £6,000 needed to complete the work.

Milton Village Hall is the only Hall of its size in the local area and hence is a valuable community asset.

As work continues more photos and updates will be posted.

Carl thanked the outgoing chairman Norman Tompkins for all his hard work over the years, and on behalf of the committee expressed his hope that Norman would continue his involvement with the Hall and the village.
